Week of 3/16/15

Twin Shadow - Eclipse (Warner Bros.)

If you are a fan of chillwave, indie rock or 80's tinged pop rock - Twin Shadow’s latest record, Eclipse, is for you. George Lewis, Jr. is the mastermind behind Twin Shadow and opens his third record with the epic, “Flatliners.” The song opens as a slow ballad, but then the chorus breaks into a powerful “you making promises, you breaking promises.” The change between the slow ballad and the upbeat, dramatic chorus makes for an incredible opener.

“When The Lights Turn Out” is an upbeat, catchy tune filled with stomping synth, drum, and string beats and Lewis’ smooth vocals. It’d be hard to listen to this tune and not enjoy it. Eclipse also features a duet with Lily Elise titled “Alone.” It’s a beautiful, piano based song with an exchange between two great vocalists.

The record has a lot of really catchy tunes on it, though some are a bit repetitive at times. I’d definitely recommend at least to check out Eclipse.
